Gums: A Gum Disease Indication

Taking care of the gums is one of the less given priority of most of us, and gum disease such as bleeding and swollen gums are often neglected for this reason until gum disease takes its toll when pain and discomfort are experience.

Gum disease is a common dental disease that can occur at any age and it is the primary cause of adult tooth loss. If detected at its early stage, gum disease can be reverse. However, it is more often neglected for symptoms appear to be painless and unrecognizable. The most common indications that gum disease is already taking its place is when bleeding and swollen gums are experienced. Any difference with your gums such as having a swollen gums, treatment should be administered as early as possible to control the progression of gum disease, thus making an appointment with your dentist should be given utmost priority for diagnosis and proper treatment.

Gum disease and swollen gums can be avoided with proper oral care, avoidance of smoking and excessive alcohol intake and proper nutrition and sufficient intake of vitamin C and D. Regular dental visits should be included in your oral care regimen, early diagnosis and treatment of gum disease can be done.
